The Book of Judges is one of the more peculiar books of the Bible.  It covers one of the darkest periods of Israel's history, and is full of idol worship, war, treachery, violence, gross immorality, continuing failures, and God's continuing intervention to rescue his people.

1) Why is it important for us to know we are part of a story bigger than ourselves?

Reading: 1 Samuel 30:1- end of chapter.

Recap: Ziklag was in ruins and the women and children were in captivity, the army was in disarray and David was seeking God's guidance. This portion of the story represents a spiritual shift in David's life. When he teamed up with the Philistines he didn't seek God's advice. As a result things didn't turn out so well. Now he turns to God and is told to pursue the amalekites.
