Strength for the Present Suffering
Part 2: The Fatherhood of God
Romans 8:12 -17

Ice Breaker: Did you have lessons, when you were a child, that your mom or dad had to keep you on track with, e.g. piano lessons?
Or
Is there something that your parents would have nagged you about and didn’t.
WORD:
Read Romans 8: 12-17
Questions:
1. What is the difference between just thinking of ourselves as followers of Jesus as opposed to knowing that we are adopted children of God?
2. If the word ‘Abba’ indicates intimacy and the word ‘father’ indicates purpose, which of these two do you need to grow in more in your life?
3. When Jesus called the disciples, he called them into purpose; he was going to make something of their lives. Purpose for us may not mean a change of address but a change in our thinking, in our availability, or in the way we live. What would encourage you to see that your life is more purposeful for God?
4. Does it help us go through trials, if we know that God has a purpose behind them to make us more dependent on him or more Christ-like
Pray for one another that we would be secure in the Father’s love and His Fatherhood would mean purpose and intimacy
