Message Title: “The Generosity of God”

ICE BREAKER..... Have you ever experienced someone being wonderfully generous to you?

As we read this passage, we could feel that God is being used as an example for us so we will be generous; but this scripture is about the character of God, his faithfulness and consistent love.  He is not only going to give us his son but in his generous nature he is committed to us to continue to bless us. This is seen again as we read on and it continues to assure us that nothing will separate us from the love of God. God is utterly and completely generous towards us, not only in Christ, but ongoing for the rest of our lives.

Questions:

1. What can we learn about the sort of love God showed in sending his Son to the cross in this passage? e.g. sacrificial

2. There are a number of well known verses within this passage, which part of the passage encourages you personally and why?

3. If God is portrayed as this loving in His Character how should we respond? Do you think Christians struggle with concerns about whether God really loves them at times?

4. As imitators of God, how can you, as a group or we as a church, grow in showing grace to unbelievers?

5. How does this passage help us with the ongoing problem Christians face of condemnation? And what does it do to assure us of God’s attitude toward us?

Pray for one another to be recipients of God’s ongoing grace and to be dispatchers of his grace to the lost and generous in our lives as he is to us.
